Default the newest stupidity.. Rank= pve skill..

If its not enough to be told by a vast majority of ranked people that "pve dont take skill"
Im not sure this is the right place but its poped up in factions ....

Ive now began seeing "LFP 4 mission rank 3+ required"

now this bugs me on a number of levels..

first. your ability to fight in HOH against or while using FOTM builds is no indication that you have any clue about what works in PVE.. a great example would be hammer wars.. while highly effective in pvp, using frenzy in pve generally means you die fast and nasty...

Second. there are a VAST majority of players who DO gvg and NOT do heros ascent.. there is no individual ranking for gvg...

Third.. due to the overwhelming arrogance of MANY, not all.. of the PVP heros crowd your going to find very few people who are willing to help you after you fail the mission for the fourth time with your ranked team...( dead serious.. saw "forming team rank 3+ for mission" the mission was tahnnaki temple.. they returned FOUR times ....)

Fourth... there are a plethora of Deaf (read HEARING IMPAIRED) players who are rather good in pvp but refuse to deal with heros ascent/ HOH due to the reliance on ts/vent programs which are outside of our ability to use.. ( sure I can log on your server but unless you have it close captioned im not gonna get much use out of it..)

and finally... there is not ONE mission along the storyline that has not been done by ONE MM and 7 henchies.. please dont tout about how factions is more pvp than pve.. even in the luxon vs kurzick fights there are NPCS guarding the shrines.. a whole team can effectively NEVER fight another person and win a match 500-264.. deaths count as one point... holding the shrines is what wins the match...

please.. grow up.. stop being so dang rude and confirming for many how the pvp crowd are all jerks... and form parties .. granted 6 assassins and 2 ritualists may not be the best choice atm but.. whos to say in a month when everyone has a good handle on skillsets ...

I believe Anet is partly responsible for perpetuating PVPer-perceived superior mindset. Notice how Anet calls PvPers with fame heros, whereas none of the PvE titles contains the word hero.

If PvE pugs weren't so damn useless maybe it wouldn't come to this. As much as I think the rank/fame system is meaningless trash for rating people within a PvP environment, it does at least show they PvP.

People are allowed to form their team as they wish , you are allowed to decide if join in a team as you wish.

So if those guy think rank = "skil in pvp" that is their affair you just dont join.

You know, if I ever should see such a request, I'll remeind myself of my Protector of Tyria title and my soon to be Tyrian Grandmaster Cartographer, then I'll silently smile, leave those kids to their delusions and continue playing with henchmen or guildies. I'm way past the point of getting upset about the stupidity of random people.

Maybe Im just prejudiced and using too general a set of stereotypes but heres how it works for me.

If I see an unranked player I have absolutely no idea how much experience he has, he could be a regular first teamer in a top 100 guild or he could have just bought the game a few weeks ago. Most people who continually PvE run either run solo farming builds or other specialist builds (ie b/p) so no matter how much experience (or in other words: time played) they have, you have no idea if they can play their character in a team setting.

If I see a rank 3+ player I presume that he has PvEd as much as he'd like to, tried out a few different builds in HA, and then possibly IWAY'd about 50-75% of his fame. People who have managed to get to rank 3 I feel will have had a decent stab at trying out a fair few more builds before they fall back on iway.

I know its not a 100% method, but I dont look for ranked teams for PvE missions, in fact I dont trust anybody enough and just soloed my way through it all with hencheis, excepting missions requiring more than 1 player to carry objects. I'm just pointing out that this could be the rational used by those players when forming ranked PvE teams.

Henchmen are better than most players, take them. They don't complain, and they even talk now so you have some company. And since the new henchmen remove hexes and conditions insanely fast, the domination henchmen interrupts 1/4 casts consistanly... I see no reason to play with humans when the AI will outperform your typical player. Even with their current bad habits (not ressing unless they have full health for example), it's a small price to pay to get into a group instantly knowing that the brunt of the task at hand depends solely on your ability. They're r3 as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, I'm seeing this a bit in Factions now, too. But, it's nothing new. Had a guy flash a Dear at me when I told him that my party was full at THK. I dunno, maybe he thought I'd go and kick one of the mostly Guru team I had assembled in favor of some random yahoo that knows how to play IWAY. Read as "No Effing Way".

Anymore, I just kindly remind the idiots that Rank has nothing at all to do with PvE, and I don't care how many times they've held Halls. It's a different game in PvE, a strange magical land where Riposte can be a good skill and Frenzy is, generally, a death wish.

Viewpoint A:

mmm.. yes... let's all be elitist and never have a newbie in our PUG, after all, we don't want our lovely game polluted by new blood - we've all got everything we need here nicely sorted and happy. New players are the bane of Guildwars and thus must be discouraged. If we only recruit guildies with fame, only pvp with famous players and now finally, only pve with famous players, we will surely ensure that this dangerous influx of new players will end.

Viewpoint B:

Well, there's a lot of experienced PvE players who never set foot in an arena. Anyway, the game is about having fun with people and it is only a game. If you get stuck with the archetypal "lame rushing noob", well it doesn't happen often and if it's a genuine noob (not just a poor player) then a bit of advice will help your group, help the newbie and perhaps net you a useful addition to your online contacts and maybe even guild in the long term.

I think I'll just start advertising as follows:

LFP 4 mission. Sense of humour, tolerance and common decency required.

Next time anyone who see someone looking for party like this, let loose and go berserk on the kid and bash him to death. Just to make sure this trend doesn't start rolling to an unstoppable pace like in HA or the former tomb.

When the good doesn't act, the evil get its way.

It's a well known fact that Mage Henchman has a Tiger.

two words...

"hench it"

You can complete most, if not all, of factions with hench. I got up to eternal grove with hench, then I started going half-hench because You ened splitability in eternal grove and you need at least 2 human players to properly to unwaking waters for the res orbs.

Just grab hench They know how to follow called targets better too.

hehe, I rember jumping in group once going from rankor to war camp with two people spaming "Rank 6 Tank and monk going to war camp, allowing other to come with use!" And when i went with them, they must have agroed 3 heritics, 2 dolyak masters, and 10 beastmasters. Yeah, after we were all murdered, they were like "Oops, i forgot that little circle around you meant that if monsters touched it they would attack." I left them after that and simply got the henchies and went. Rank trully means nothing in PvE. In pvp yeah, it means they've played some. In PvE it means they've most likley forgotten everything there is about the game, and will most likely get you killed if flashing off thier emote is how they get into groups.

One thing people don't learn in PvP is how "pulling" works. I went into a mission with 2 players who were both flashing rank, the rest were henches. At the first spot where I said 'let me pull these', they ran forward past me as I shot the first arrow. Needless to say, we died...

I have to disagree slightly. I've been with many PUGs and they have been very useful. Heck I once did a LONG string of quests and missions with a PUG we got out of the city in a matter of hours. But then again that's a very unique situation.

eheehhe i agree... love how my farming budy w/ 500k and 100 some ectos, perfect req7 swords... etc, thinks he's the bomb. But when it comes to coop misson he's the first to die and say "oh i have to change my skills can we restart". Farming and doing coop misson are not the same thing! /end of rant

well after reading some of the post here i can say i haven't come across any teams or groups looking for rank. Not that far in Factions PvE. Also like the other guy said above me that some Good players in PvE don't do HA or HOH. Not saying i'm "Good" but I learned to "play on a team" reguarless of noobs and know-it-alls. Love PUGs... make new friends that way.

I would love to level up my rank or invest more time into a good guild but life outside of GW demands more then a VR.

oh well i just ignore people looking for rank or werid request. with a million some players your bound to get a good group (even w/ an assassin who tires to be a tank -( )

I once saw a "r3+ Tombs B/P group" that was taking r3 people only because tombs was too hard with unranked.

I joined them, got on their TS server, and laughed at them.

I'm banned from that server now.
